The intensive PhD summer school “New delivery strategies for therapeutics and vaccines to fight emerging infectious diseases” is a doctoral student school addressed to all PhD students carrying out scientific research in the field of pharmaceutical technology. The SITELF (ex ADRITELF) PhD summer school is a traditional meeting for PhD students of Pharmaceutical Technology area since it is organized for 23 years and it takes place each year in a different italian University.
Goal of the school is to explore and deepen each year a topic of interest of scientific research in the pharmaceutical technology field. This year the selected topic is related to new delivery strategies for therapeutics and vaccines to fight emerging diseases. The program is addressed to drug delivery strategies for overcoming microbial barriers and antimicrobial resistance, and to the innovative tools provided by nanomedicines. It has been chosen taking into account that AMR is nowadays an hot healthcare topic.
The topic will be developed from various points of view:
- Overcoming microbial barriers;
- Polymers and nanosystems for drug delivery;
- Nanocarriers manufacturing techniques;
- RNA Therapeutics.
Another goal of the school is to gather PhD students and let them exchange their knowledge. On this purpose a session is dedicated to PhD students presentations that can be oral presentations (typically by 3rd year PhD students) and posters (by 1st and 2nd year PhD students). The PhD students oral presentation will be grouped in focus groups according to their topic, and round tables will be organized at the end of each focus group.
Excellence of the school resides in the Experts in the field that are involved and will give lectures. They will be both foreigner and italian experts from Academia and multinational pharmaceutical companies such as Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) vaccines and Evotec, Fedegari Group, SOTAX, Alfa Test and expert from recognized international bodies such as the European Commission Joint Research Center.
This panel of international acknowledged experts will contribute to increase the scientific value of the PhD summer school, and will also offer scientific network and opportunities to PhD students.

The projects presented will be examined by the Scientific Committee, which will communicate any acceptance by July 31st; contributions not selected as oral will automatically be accepted as poster.
